Halo-halo (“Mixed Together” in English)- is a Filipino dessert that was best served during summer season, it is a mixture of Shaved Ice, Evaporated Milk, and a various ingredients, frankly you can put whatever you want but make sure that it will fit (since there are many “inventions” or “twists” that was made for the Halo-halo) but according to Wikipedia, “they usually include boiled sweetened kidney beans, sweetened chickpeas, sugar palm fruit (kaong), coconut sport (macapuno), and plantains sweetened with sugar, jackfruit (langkâ), gulaman, tapioca, nata de coco, sweet potato (kamote), cheese, pounded crushed young rice (pinipig). Most of the ingredients (fruits, beans, and other sweets) are first placed inside the tall glass, followed by the shaved ice. This is then sprinkled with sugar, and topped with either (or a combination of) leche flan, purple yam (ubeng pula), or ice cream. Evaporated milk is poured into the mixture upon serving.”

-Balot/Balut (Fertilized Duck Egg)- They say that “You are not a real Filipino if you haven’t eaten Balut in your Lifetime” well I don’t know if that’s true but I saw some foreigners that eat balut for the first time and they just cringe very fast because of what they see and smell in this food, but it is not called a delicacy for no reason, I’m not going to describe it here, you better try it out for yourself, trust me it is very delicious.

And the Number 1 Must Try in the Philippines is…

1. Adobo or Adobar (Spanish: marinade, sauce, or seasoning) is the immersion of raw food in a stock (or sauce) composed variously of paprika, oregano, salt, garlic, and vinegar to preserve and enhance its flavor. Some of you may ask, why did I put this at the Top 1 spot? Well, because it is the most widely recognized and most loved dish here in the Philippines, and like Sinigang, you can choose whatever main ingredient you want for your adobo, you can choose Pork or Chicken or any other else, just make sure that it fits, and it is debated in our country if it should be recognized as a National Viand of our country, and it’s THAT popular, so you don’t have to hesitate this dish when this precious is on the table.
